Managing Categories

Organize your product catalog with categories

Why Use Categories?

Categories help organize your products, making it easier for buyers to browse and find what they need. A well-organized catalog improves the buying experience and can increase order sizes.

📁 Best Practice: Create categories before adding products. This keeps your catalog organized from the start.

How to Create a Category

1

Navigate to Categories

Path: Dashboard → Categories → Add Category

2

Enter Category Details

Category Name

Clear, descriptive name that buyers will understand (e.g., "Fresh Vegetables", "Dairy Products")

Description (Optional)

Brief description of what products belong in this category

3

Save Category

Click "Create Category" or "Save" button. Your category is now ready to use when adding products.

  • • Fresh Fruits

  • • Organic Produce

  • • Beef
  • • Chicken & Poultry
  • • Pork

Managing Existing Categories

Edit Categories

Go to Dashboard → Categories, find the category, and click Edit. You can update the name and description.

Delete Categories

You can delete categories that are no longer needed. However, you cannot delete a category that has products assigned to it.

⚠️ First move or delete all products in the category, then delete the category.

Best Practices

Keep Categories Broad

Don't create too many narrow categories. "Fresh Vegetables" is better than separate categories for each vegetable type.

Use Clear Names

Category names should be immediately understandable. Avoid jargon or internal codes.

Plan Before Creating

Think about your full product range and create all necessary categories at once for consistency.
