Adding Products

Build your product catalog for buyers to order from

Overview

As a supplier, your product catalog is the foundation of your ChefOrdering presence. Adding products with detailed information, clear images, and accurate pricing helps buyers make informed decisions and increases order success rates.

📝 Tip: Create product categories before adding products to keep your catalog organized from the start.

How to Add a Product

1

Navigate to Products

Path: Dashboard → Products → Add Product

Click the "Add Product" button to open the product creation form.

2

Fill in Basic Information

Required Fields:

Product Name

Clear, descriptive name (e.g., "Fresh Organic Tomatoes", "Whole Milk 1L")

SKU (Stock Keeping Unit)

Your internal product code for inventory tracking (e.g., "TOM-001", "MILK-WH-1L")

Description

Detailed description including origin, quality, packaging, etc.

💡 Tip: Write detailed descriptions. Buyers can't physically see the products, so good descriptions build trust and reduce questions.

3

Select Category

Choose the category this product belongs to. Categories help buyers browse and filter products easily.

📁 Categories: If you haven't created categories yet, go to Dashboard → Categories to create them first. Examples: Fresh Vegetables, Dairy Products, Meat & Poultry, Bakery Items.

4

Set Pricing and Units

Base Price

Your standard price per unit. This is the default price all buyers see.

Unit of Measurement

Select the unit: kg, lbs, pcs (pieces), box, dozen, etc. Be clear about what buyers are ordering.

Minimum Order Quantity (Optional)

Set a minimum quantity buyers must order (e.g., minimum 5 kg).

⚠️ Important: Make sure the unit is clear. If you price per kg, buyers entering "5" means 5 kilograms, not 5 pieces.

5

Upload Product Image

Add a clear, high-quality image of your product. Good product photos significantly increase orders.

Image Guidelines:

  • Use clear, well-lit photos
  • Show the actual product, not stock photos
  • Supported formats: JPG, PNG, WebP
  • Maximum file size: 5MB
  • Recommended: Square images (1:1 ratio)
6

Configure Inventory Settings

Track Inventory (Toggle)

Enable this if you want to track stock levels. When enabled, you can set current stock quantity and receive low stock alerts.

In Stock (Toggle)

Toggle this to show/hide product availability. When OFF, buyers can see the product but cannot order it.

💡 Tip: Use "In Stock" toggle to temporarily disable products without deleting them. Perfect for seasonal items or temporary shortages.

7

Save Your Product

Review all information and click "Create Product" or "Save Product" button.

✓ Success! Your product is now live in your catalog. Buyers can immediately see and order it (if In Stock is enabled).

Product Information Best Practices

✅ Good Product Names

  • ✓ "Fresh Organic Roma Tomatoes"
  • ✓ "Whole Milk 1L - Grade A"
  • ✓ "Premium Chicken Breast - Boneless"
  • ✓ "Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml"

❌ Avoid These Names

  • ✗ "Tomatoes" (too vague)
  • ✗ "Milk" (no size or type)
  • ✗ "Chicken" (no cut or detail)
  • ✗ "Oil" (no type or size)

Managing Your Products

Edit Products

Go to Dashboard → Products, find the product, and click Edit. You can update any information including price, description, images, and availability.

Disable Products Temporarily

Toggle "In Stock" to OFF to hide products from buyers without deleting them. Perfect for seasonal items or when you're temporarily out of stock.

Delete Products

Only delete products you'll never sell again. Consider disabling instead. Deleted products cannot be recovered.

Tips for Success

Add Products in Batches

Create categories first, then add all products in each category together for efficiency.

Use Consistent SKU Format

Develop a SKU naming system (e.g., CATEGORY-PRODUCT-SIZE) for easy inventory management.

Update Regularly

Keep prices, availability, and descriptions current. Outdated information leads to order issues.

Leverage Custom Pricing

After adding products, set custom prices for specific buyers to offer special deals and build loyalty.
